Well, as most of you know, I'm a travelin' fool! From Jan to now this year October, I'm on the road at least on weekends and sometimes throughout the week in the summer teaching and working for KAR (Kids Artistic Review National Dance Competition) http://www.dancekar.com/ (check it out to see what i do!)
Therefore, I would like to say I'm an experienced airport traveler. Well thismorning our day began at 4 am to make a 6:45 flight and it was a beautiful disaster. We all have these hellish stories with our new TSA security system (I'm sure yours is going through your head right now!) and their oh so personable staff. To make a long story short, we almost missed our flight due to incompetence at the check in counter and a security line that was 30 minutes long! Honestly, I am ok with the security because it makes people feel safe. I'm just not a believer that it is actually keeping us safe, so I get very easily annoyed with the rudeness of people yelling at me in the wee hours of the morning and having to walk through a maze of ropes like a lab rat.
We make the first plane, get to PHX and get on the second plane to Omaha. Pics of our experience are below. We laughed the whole way b/c the plane was ancient, cramped, and the toliets didn't flush!!! And one of my favorite things on the plane is when people get up and grab the back of your seat -- today I honestly felt like I was in a broken recliner -- I thought I was going down! Didn't help matters that the woman in front of me was so far reclined that i couldn't cross my legs and she kept adjusting and pushing farther back. Ray's knees were in his armpits, and Kevin couldn't put his tray down b/c it didn't fit! HAHAHAHA. To finish the trip. . .we get to Omaha and I go to the rental car place. . .they had no cars!! Fantastic! So much for reservations. But, we are now settled, found a car, and the hotel is fabulous. Had a nice dinner, took a nap, talked to long lost friends on the phone and am now talking to you. Tomorrow starts our 10 days here of teaching and choreography. Lacking choreographic inspiration -- can anyone send some genius out west?!? I have until Wed when I start my two dances. Looking forward to seeing the kiddos tomorrow - this is our third year here. Until next time. . .
