Our weekend getaway - Julian, CA Oct 17-19

On our way up - G took me to Dudley's bakery and bought me fresh bread! I got Sourdough Rye and he got Hawaiian Sweet Bread! YUM!
Our Inn for the weekend
View from the porch off of the lodge. These are the cottages you can stay in. They are larger than the lodge rooms where we were and they have a fireplace and fridge. We got free h'ordeurves and drinks both days for happy hour and enjoyed them on the patio.
Apple Pie with Sharp Cheddar melted over the top. I tried it, but you can't really even taste the cheese! Might have helped if I'd had any smell. The pie was tres good.

Personal welcome waiting in our room for us.

Room - Very cute and bright! We stayed in room 5; each room is different.

Stopped on our hike for a photo op. There are two trails on the property of the inn. This first one was called the view trail, and there was a view, but it was steep climbing to get to it! I don't think anyone had been up there in awhile.

At the top! View of the small town of Julian. The town is literally 3 blocks long.

The biggest pine cone I've ever seen.
G liked this rock and took a pic.
Fire damage from the 2007 Wildfires
Along the trail.

On our way to the mine trail.
There was a little museum with cool mining things from back in the day.

The actual mine

Stone walkway leading to the mine.
The biggest pine cones on earth actually stay on the tree that big!
Front porch of the inn.
Up close
It was still warm so a lot of the leaves had not turned; these did!
The B on the mountain is for Borego springs we think! This was from a lookout that we stopped by on the way home.
Way in the distance there is water.
Fire damage along Route 79 - this tree is actually growing back.
Couldn't believe all of this.

We had an awesome time and I hope to be back there in the next year for some more R&R!

G's first Dance Concert in the San Diego Scene. . .

He's working on smiling for the camera :-) But he sure does dress up nicely!!

PS to previous post

and by the way. . .don't you people look at what is going on around you? When I see someone coming up fast in my rearview mirror, I move OVER! and then I get back into the lane if I need to. Even if you like driving over there to the far left, you can get right back over after I pass you! And thirdly, slowing down on purpose totally sucks. What are you proving? You are not CHP doing slow downs up by LA. Leave that to those in uniform. Worse yet, is slowing down on purpose and then speeding up and not letting me back over to pass YOU! Signing off to go find some Zen and inner peace.
It's a good thing I don't commute EVERY day.

Road Rage

I now know what that means. . .
People, please please PLEASE if you are going to drive under or right at the speed limit, GET OUT OF THE LEFT HAND LANE! Seriously, there are 4 others to the right of it. Let us speed deamons who dare speed and PASS your slow asses in the PASSING LANE!
Freakin' rediculous!

Fall at the CASA

My new centerpiece for my table. About as creative as I can be right now! But, those little pumpkins plus my few Halloween decorations make me smile. Now it just needs to get a little cooler. . .sometime this week I am going to make my way to Michaels to attempt my first fall wreath making event! If I get one to turn out half decent, i will post a pic! My next fall task is to find a Halloween costume for the party we are going to. HELP! Any ideas are good at this point!

A FEW updates!

It's been awhile!

Life happens and you get out of a routine. I got lazy with the blog. But, here are a few updates of the last two months. Late August we were in phoenix at Dancenergy and those students are below.

Kevin, Orialis and I taught there and blondy Ash just had her new baby Sept 25! Welcome Brooklyn Nichole! And Red Ash is a former dancer of ours and friend from college. She was visiting from Vegas where she's in the Donny and Marie show -- selling out each night!Girl in purple is Alexis. This was at her outdoor performance of Music Man. Great show!
Third new baby of summer after Ava and Hank. . .meet Genevieve "GiGi"!! She was born in June and is already posing with the hands! Sweet sweet girl! She is the daughter of one of my first friends I made when I came to Cali, Jade.

Finally, we are the proud parents of a GRILL!!!! We have actually used it a lot, and hopefully can use it all winter! Thank goodness G can put things together :-)

Nothing else is new - well I've had a lot to bitch about, so I think that's why I haven't been on here. Hours cut at work, same as everyone else around the country. But I'm dealing and I'm adjusting. I took a new job in LA on Wednesdays teaching ballet technique to dancers at a new studio that my good friends opened, and it's going to be so great to see them every week once we get into the building. So much potential! It's been 800 degrees here this week and I'm ready for Fall. . .we'll feel it Sat - supposed to top out in the 60'S! A rare Oct. treat for So Cal. I'll really like football this weekend, I can wear SWEATS!
HAPPY OCTOBER!
